The department of the Investigative Committee for Minsk began checking the circumstances of the death of a man during the riots on August 10. On August 11, BelTA informs about it with reference to the official representative of the department Ekaterina Garlinskaya.

According to her, the man died on Pritytsky Street. His identity has been established, he turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of the capital of Belarus, previously sentenced to seven years for causing grievous bodily harm that resulted in death.

“In order to establish the exact cause of the death of the man, the investigators appointed a forensic medical examination, the production of which was entrusted to the specialists of the SCSE,” she added.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the demonstrations in Minsk on August 10 at about 11 pm, one of the protesters tried to throw an unidentified explosive device in the direction of law enforcement officers. It exploded in his hand, the man was fatally injured.

The death of a man the night before was reported by the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Olga Chemodanova. On August 9, it was reported that he was killed in Belarus, but in the afternoon of August 10 this man was found, he is alive.

On August 9, presidential elections were held in the republic. According to the CEC, the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko won 80.08% of the vote, and Svetlana Tikhanovskaya – 10.09%.

Tikhanovskaya’s headquarters refused to recognize the official data of the country’s Central Election Commission, after which citizens supporting her went to protest.
