Georgian actor Kakha Kavsadze, who died at the age of 86, was buried in Tbilisi at the Saburtala cemetery next to his wife Bella Mirianashvili. This was announced on Saturday, May 1, by the REN TV channel.
It is noted that the funeral service was held at the Shota Rustaveli Theater, where the artist served for many years. Not only relatives, fans and representatives of show business, but also officials from the government of the country came to say goodbye to the Georgian actor.
“Kavsadze was a great man and actor. His departure is an irreparable loss for the Georgian theater, cinema and culture. For me personally, this is a great pain, because he was a very great friend of our family, my father, ”said ex-speaker of the Georgian parliament Nino Burjanadze.
Kakhi Kavsadze died on Tuesday, April 27, at the age of 85 after a long illness. Since March 16, the actor has been in the clinic, where he was hospitalized for the second time in several months. On March 22, he was transferred to intensive care, because after the coronavirus, his previous diseases became more active.
The actor was born in June 1935. Since 1959 he played at the Rustaveli Theater. In 1981 he was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the Georgian SSR. He has played in dozens of films. All-Union fame brought him the role of Abdullah in “The White Sun of the Desert.” The actor also starred in such films as “The Tree of Desire”, “Melodies of the Veria Quarter”, “Repentance”, “The Life of Don Quixote and Sancho”.
