The head of the Austrian oil and gas corporation OMV Rainer Seele called for a “political response” to the US sanctions threats, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
Seele believes that measures must be taken to ensure that the EU does not lose its attractiveness as a place for investment, writes the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The Austrian called the second important point that Europe must demonstrate its intention to defend its sovereignty and independence in the energy sector.
Earlier it became known that Gazprom no longer owns the Akademik Chersky pipe-laying vessel, which was supposed to complete the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. The ship belongs to an unknown new owner. According to the media, the gas company probably used the right not to disclose some of the data due to the sanctions risks. Thus, Gazprom cannot fall under US sanctions, even if they are toughened, as a ship owner.
