More than 1 million tourists can visit Crimea during the May holidays. This was announced on Friday, April 23, by the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the region Vadim Volchenko.
“We understand that we are going with an excess by 2019, which was considered a record for the entire post-Soviet period (about 20%). We understand that for the May holidays we will have more than 1 million tourists, ”he told reporters.
Volchenko also called the upcoming season “a serious test” for the entire peninsula.
On the eve of the head of the Crimea Sergei Aksenov said about the rush demand for recreation in the region this summer. According to his forecast, the peninsula will receive over 6 million tourists this season.
On April 21, he also spoke about the readiness of Crimea to receive tourists in the upcoming holiday season against the backdrop of news about the closure of Turkey.
In addition, there is a tourist cashback program in Russia, which makes it possible to return 20% of the cost of a trip across Russia to the Mir card, which must be used to pay for the tour. The maximum cashback amount for one payment is 20 thousand rubles.
The first stage of the program took place at the end of August 2020. Then about 60 thousand people took advantage of it. The second phase began in mid-October. The third stage of the program started on March 18, 2021.
By the decision of the headquarters, regular and irregular flights with Turkey and Tanzania were suspended from April 15 to June 1 due to the worsening situation with COVID-19 in these countries.
