Small arms of NATO 5.56 mm caliber began to arrive in Georgia, Voennoye Obozreniye reports.
Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili visited the Vaziani military base. There he got acquainted with how the fighters master the M249 machine guns received from the USA. Under the program of cooperation with Washington, it is planned to equip nine battalions with American small arms. Also, the Georgian army traditionally receives M-4 automatic rifles from America. By the way, in 2008 the Russian army got a considerable number of them in South Ossetia as trophies.
