Some federal states are quarantining travelers from four regions of Berlin and other regions of Germany, the number of infected in which has exceeded 50 new cases per 100,000 people per week. Member of the Bundestag and health expert of the SPD party Karl Lauterbach believes that due to the sharp increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus, “almost all of Germany will become a risk zone.”
“I anticipate that we will soon be crossing the border of 50 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week in many regions of Germany.” The introduced quarantine rules will soon “hardly make sense” in this situation, Lauterbach said.
“Whether you are traveling or not will not matter. Thus, the quarantine rules will not be of fundamental importance for travel inside Germany in a few weeks. ” Much more important measures to combat the pandemic are further steps against the spread of the virus, such as a nationwide ban on private parties with more than 25 people, the introduction of mandatory masks in public places where it is impossible to maintain a minimum distance, and the installation of an air ventilation system in schools.
