Furious that a woman and her son were violating social distancing measures, a man opened fire in the lobby of a Miami hotel.
On Monday evening, Douglas Marks, 29, fired several rifle shots at the hotel floor, authorities say. Fortunately, the incident did not claim any casualties, reports the New York Daily News.
“He came in and then started shooting. The mother and her son were crying and were really scared, ”said a witness.
Many tourists, as well as the employees, were also scared to death.
The police explained that the man had confronted the woman and her son because they did not respect the measures put in place to curb COVID-19.
Authorities say the suspect lost patience, picked up his rifle and fired at least four warning shots while screaming.
Douglas Marks has been formally charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, firing in a public place and using a firearm to commit a felony.
