Accra | The death toll from the collapse of a three-story church in eastern Ghana now stands at 21, rescue services said on Friday after discovering new bodies in the rubble.
“Twelve women and nine men are among the victims,” said the national relief organization.
Eight survivors were discovered by search teams, she recalled.
The Church of Prosperity, an evangelical organization, collapsed on Tuesday in Akyem Batabi. According to a survivor, some 60 people were in the building at the time.
The causes of the accident have not yet been established. Church founder Isaac Ofori, better known as Akoa Isaac, said he was assisting the police in their investigation.
