Germany will face a series of local lockdowns

In Germany, 7,595 cases of coronavirus were detected per day. Health authorities in regions where the number of infections exceeds the critical limit of 50 cases per 100,000 population per week are often unable to track the chains of infection.

In this situation, health expert Karl Lauterbach and the Prime Minister of Hesse Volker Bouffier (CDU) believe that Germany in the near future will face a wave of local lockdowns, like in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. “We will hear more about such restrictive measures as in Berchtesgaden,” Lauterbach said. Adding: “We can only respond to the development of a pandemic with local lockdowns, this is an adequate and effective measure.”

In favor of local lockdowns, Bouffier opposes Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder’s proposal to strengthen the federal government’s rights to combat the pandemic by shifting some of the responsibility from the regional to the federal level.

Germany says this:

Germany: All Bavaria is a risk zone

Germany: Tourists are massively forced to leave the lockdown zone

Tightening the mask regime: in northern Germany, masks should also be worn at work

Germany: Stores to open on a flexible schedule
