As part of regular internal checks, Volkswagen has identified a design flaw in the brake pedal in some models. The holding has announced a large campaign of vehicle recall and inspection. In Germany alone, 17,600 iron horses will be examined in the concern’s workshops.
Volkswagen has recalled thousands of new cars because of the brake pedal. 38,100 copies are recalled worldwide, of which almost 17,600 are in Germany. We are talking about the Golf, Tiguan, Touran and T-Roc models with a release date of 2020. Until now, there were no accidents that occurred due to a brake malfunction, a company spokesman said.
During internal inspections, it was found that the pedal plate, which the driver presses on when braking, can under certain circumstances deform or even come off. This problem has been identified in cars with automatic transmission and left-hand drive vehicles.
The campaign has started. Vehicle owner data are requested from the Federal Highway Administration. The Flensburg-based agency oversees the process. According to experts, a “welding defect” can be a risk factor for a possible detachment of the pedal plate.
