Long queues for car check-in will soon be a thing of the past. From October 1, cars and motorcycles can be registered online without leaving home. It is not only about registering a new vehicle, but also about changing the owner. Thus, car owners can save a lot of time and, often, nerves.

To register the iron horses, you need a new passport with an online function – PIN-code, bank (payment) card readers or, alternatively, a smartphone with the “AusweisApp2” application.

After filling out a special online form, the vehicle registration document will be sent by mail. However, this innovation applies to vehicles manufactured after January 1, 2015. Car owners of an earlier production year cannot yet use this convenient registration option.
