“We are not interested in participating in this confrontational hype. Our priorities are good-neighborly relations with Russia, ”Maas said.

He added that politicians demanding tough measures against Moscow are “cunning”, and also pointed out the need to carefully weigh such decisions, for example, sanctions pressure. Moreover, further sanctions may, on the contrary, play into Russia’s hands.

Commenting on the relationship between Russia and the West, Heiko Maas said that at the moment the dialogue between the parties is “very bad” and that it should not remain so in the future: one way or another, no one is interested in the constant provocations escalating into a serious conflict. including Europe.

On the same day, April 25, the head of the United Kingdom’s foreign intelligence service MI6, Richard Moore, announced that the UK should maintain relations with Russia and respect its global role. He added that relations between Moscow and London are very far from what was desired, but this fact is not a decision of Britain itself.
