Ex-Prime Minister of Georgia, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili announced that he was launching a large-scale project to revive the famous balneological resort. This was reported by the Georgian Public Broadcaster. Tskhaltubo is located in the west of the country.
According to the Georgian Dream party, the entire infrastructure of the resort was destroyed in the first years after gaining independence.
Ivanishvili pointed out that the state does not have the resources to invest in the full-scale reconstruction of Tskhaltubo. This requires several hundred million dollars. The billionaire said that the recovery will begin at his own expense as soon as possible. He plans to make the resort modern in accordance with international standards.
Earlier, in Soviet times, 22 sanatoriums and 9 balneological baths operated in Tskhaltubo, which competed with the resorts of Eastern Europe.
