In Ukraine, if a citizen has the prospect of getting into a pre-trial detention center, he can purchase a certificate with which he will be placed in a high-comfort cell, Ukrinform reports.
Deputy Minister of Justice Elena Vysotskaya told the agency’s correspondent: “As of September 5, certificates worth 25408 hryvnia have been sold. These are Kiev, Kharkov, Zaporozhye and Ivano-Frankovsk. ” The Ministry of Justice on April 22, 2020, as an experiment, is implementing a project to provide improved living conditions on a paid basis in a pre-trial detention center. A person acquires a special certificate, if the buyer is not detained within six months, the money goes to the account of the detention center as charitable assistance.
