Russian Railways did not stop the implementation of any of more than fifty digital projects during the coronavirus pandemic. This was stated by Evgeny Charkin, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways for Informatization, member of the Supervisory Board of the Digital Transport and Logistics Association (CTL), at the international online conference PRO // Movement. Digital “.

He noted that 2020 was the first year of the implementation of the digital transformation strategy of Russian Railways, which was approved by the company’s board of directors at the end of 2019. It includes eight digital platforms that affect all business processes of the company, and 55 different services are developed on their basis.

“Despite the change in working conditions, we did not revise its goals and objectives and did not stop any of the more than fifty envisaged projects. But we have clarified the priorities, bringing to the fore the technology of contactless interaction both within the company and with our customers, ”Charkin said.

He noted that the coronavirus pandemic has become a test for the company: twice this year, they had to take unprecedented steps to transfer colleagues to a remote mode of work – their number amounted to more than 100 thousand employees. At the same time, the pandemic demonstrated an increased interest in digital from customers, which confirmed the loyalty of the company’s strategy.

According to Charkin, in 2019 the calculated and confirmed effect of digitalization amounted to 1.1 billion rubles, and this is 17% higher than planned. From pilot projects to implement platforms, the company is already moving to scaling, he noted.

According to the director of the CTL Association, the general director of RT-Invest Transport Systems (RTITS) Anton Zamkov, industry companies have been working on the implementation of large-scale digital projects for several years, which are still scattered, but together can become the first real steps for cargo multimodality. formation of digital transport corridors. “This is the electronic trading platform of Russian Railways“ Freight transportation ”, an electronic navigation seal, a digital multilateral automobile checkpoint, the Platon state system as a way to monitor logistics on all federal highways,” Zamkov said.

In his opinion, the missing key link for multimodality is electronic document management.

“In the era of digital transformation, a nationally and strategically oriented business is simply obliged to take on a new role: active and proactive development of draft regulatory acts, as well as their“ running-in ”during the implementation of pilot projects and in the“ regulatory sandbox ”mode, – said the director of the CTL Association …

The efficiency and speed of transformation will depend on how the norms of legal and technical regulation correspond to the pace of development and possibilities of new digital solutions, take into account and fend off new technological risks, Zamkov added.

The CTL Association was founded a year ago with the support of the Ministry of Transport of Russia by the companies Russian Railways, Aeroflot, RTITS, ZashchitaInfoTrans, GLOSAV and NPP Digital Radio Engineering Systems. In 2019, the State ATM and Azimut Corporation (part of the Rostec State Corporation) joined the Association, and in 2020 – the TransTeleCom Company and Avtodor. The CTL is the center of competence for the digital transformation of the Russian transport complex.
