The total number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the world has exceeded 77.95 million people, according to TASS calculations based on data from authorities, experts and the media. According to this information, the proportion of infected people is over 1% of the world’s population, which the United Nations Population Fund estimates at 7.795 billion people as of mid-year.

The highest proportion of cases in countries with a relatively small population. Thus, in Andorra, 9.9% of the population (7,633 people) fell ill, in Luxembourg – 7.3% of the population (44,809 people). In Montenegro, the coronavirus was detected in at least 7.2% of the population (44,542 people), and in the USA – in 5.6% of the population (more than 18.2 million people). In Russia, this figure was approximately 1.9% (2.9 million people).
