Washington | American immunologist Anthony Fauci, a highly respected figure in the United States and appointed adviser on COVID-19 by future President Joe Biden after having already been a member of Donald Trump’s crisis cell, was vaccinated against the coronavirus on Tuesday.

“It is a symbolic gesture for the rest of the country, to show that I am extremely confident in the safety and effectiveness of this vaccine, and I want to encourage all those who have the possibility of being vaccinated to do so”, said Dr Fauci, 79.
He is among the first to receive, in front of the cameras, a dose of the Moderna vaccine, developed in partnership with the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases that he has directed since 1984, and authorized Friday in the United States.
