Dodon: Russia will provide Moldova with 180 thousand doses of Sputnik-V vaccine

As part of a two-day working trip to Moscow, PSRM Chairman Igor Dodon met with Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation. At the meeting, the entire spectrum of bilateral relations was discussed, including such topical practical issues as the extension of the duty-free export regime for certain categories of Moldovan agro-industrial products to the Russian market. The interlocutors also spoke about the continuation of humanitarian cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation.

A separate issue in the discussion between the leader of the socialists and Dmitry Kozak was the fight against the pandemic. Igor Dodon thanked the Russian side for the invaluable assistance that was provided to Moldova throughout this year, namely: the free supply of medical equipment, protective masks, gowns, disinfectants and other consumables.

“Based on the results of our conversation with the Deputy Head of the Kremlin Administration, I am pleased to inform the residents of Moldova that the Russian leadership has decided to respond to the request sent a few weeks ago by the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Zinaida Greceanîi, as well as to my requests voiced during the presidency. The leadership of the Russian Federation decided to provide Chisinau with 180 thousand doses of Sputnik-V vaccine as humanitarian aid, including 60 thousand doses for the Transnistrian region. The first batches of the drug are expected to arrive in Chisinau in the coming days.

In addition, I informed the Russian partners about the readiness of the Moldovan side to urgently purchase at least 500 thousand doses of Sputnik-V vaccine within the framework of the public procurement procedure launched by the government of the Republic of Moldova, ”Igor Dodon said following the meetings.
