Doctors of the neuropsychiatric hospital conducted a study according to which almost three quarters of patients in Nizhnevartovsk (KhMAO) receiving treatment for COVID-19 at home report an increased desire to sleep. About this on Friday, December 25, writes “RIA Novosti” with reference to the press service of the hospital.
The study involved about 170 outpatients. Doctors sought to determine their emotional state during a pandemic and lockdown at home. According to the results obtained, the majority of patients (72%) report a desire to sleep more. At the same time, about half of women (49%) are worried about the future, while men think about it less often (22%).
The press service pointed out that a little more than 70% of respondents feel more anxiety for their loved ones than usual and worry about their condition, which is true for both men and women. In addition, the medical facility noted that patients with COVID-19 patients have an increased feeling of tension, fear, anxiety, and the appearance of a doctor wearing a protective suit only aggravates these reactions.
“To date, the conclusion leaves no doubt: COVID-19 is not only the somatic consequences of the infection, but also the mental reaction to the very fact of the disease, isolation from loved ones, treatment and recovery period,” the doctors concluded.
On December 22, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said that about 80% of Russians with coronavirus are treated at home. He also added that the regions received all funds for the treatment of outpatients with a new coronavirus infection.
