The international festival of folklore and traditional culture “Highlanders” will be held in Dagestan from 7 to 15 August. The cultural event has been held every year since 2004, and it is also included in the Calendar of International Folklore Projects of UNESCO and since 2012 has been held under its auspices. During the entire period of its holding, about 400 creative groups from Europe, South America, Asia, the Middle East, as well as from 80 regions of Russia took part in the festival. This year, artists not only from Russia, but also from foreign countries of Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Serbia, Slovakia will take part in it. The aim of the festival is to unite peoples of different generations, preserve traditional culture and build a dialogue in the international cultural space. Given the epidemiological situation this year, the festival events will be held online without.
