The head of the Crimean regional national-cultural autonomy “Belarusians of Crimea” Roman Chegrinets commented on the words of ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya about the status of Crimea.

In his opinion, the position of the politician is devoid of common sense. Tikhanovskaya “absolutely exactly” repeats the theses of Ukrainian and Western propagandists.

“A person absolutely does not understand what he is talking about, and what really happened in Crimea. Such reckless thoughts and statements are by no means even a regional politician, let alone a republican one, “Chegrinets told RIA Novosti on Wednesday, August 2.

He called on the Belarusians to trust and follow the real leaders who are worried about the future of the country and the Union State, and also noted that one should not repeat the mistakes of the Ukrainians, who believed “illiterate Western propagandists.”

Earlier, Tikhanovskaya said that Crimea is “de jure Ukrainian, and de facto Russian.” At the same time, she stressed that the issue of the ownership of the peninsula should not become the subject of disputes in Belarus.

Crimea returned to Russia in 2014 following a referendum in which 96.77% of the peninsula’s residents voted for reunification. Despite this, Ukraine and a number of other Western countries do not recognize the result of the will of the population of the peninsula. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, has already summed up that the question of the ownership of the peninsula is “finally closed.”
