Almost 60% of the population is vaccinated against COVID-19 in Israel and the country is experiencing real turmoil.

“The Israelis are coming out en masse. The restaurants are full several weeks in advance. There are a lot of people in the bars, there are a lot of people on the beaches and in the streets, ”says Stéphane Amar, correspondent for the Arte channel in Israel.

To achieve this, the country agreed to pay double the asking price to obtain vaccines from Pfizer, even before approval was obtained. The country has also passed on medical information on the effects of the vaccine to the pharmaceutical industry.

“This was a decisive argument for Pfizer, which was able to benefit from a test zone on the scale of a country of 9 million inhabitants in real time. Everything is computerized in Israel, ”adds Mr. Amar.

At the height of the campaign, 250,000 people were vaccinated every day in Israel.
