The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Gray Efendiyev, an investigator of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, in a bribery case. This is stated in a message received by Izvestia on September 1.
Thus, the court granted the investigator’s request to place Efendiyev in custody. The court arrested him until October 31.
It is noted that the side of the defense petitioned for the election of a preventive measure against Efendiyev in the form of house arrest. Efendiyev admitted his guilt and stated that he wanted to conclude a pre-trial agreement.
Earlier on Tuesday, it became known that the investigative committee opened a case against Efendiyev. He was charged with promising and offering mediation in bribery (part 5 of article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
It was established that Efendiyev offered a department employee to receive a bribe in the amount of 5 million rubles through him to release a person from criminal liability, the report says. When exactly this happened, it is not specified.
The officer contacted by the investigator acted in accordance with anti-corruption instructions. Efendiyev was detained, the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
