Coronavirus: more than 900,000 deaths worldwide

The novel coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 900,000 people worldwide since the first cases appeared in China in December, according to an AFP count from official sources on Wednesday.

A total of 900,052 deaths have been recorded worldwide out of 27,711,866 reported cases. Latin America and the Caribbean is the most affected region with 300,340 deaths, ahead of Europe (219,616), and more than half of global deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded in four countries: United (190,478), Brazil (127,464), India (73,890) and Mexico (68,484).
