Coronavirus: more than 12 million cases detected in Europe

More than 12 million cases of the new coronavirus have been officially recorded in Europe, according to a count carried out by AFP from reports provided by health authorities on Friday at 11 a.m.

The 52 countries in the region constitute the most affected area in the world in terms of number of cases, ahead of Latin America and the Caribbean (11.5 million cases) and Asia (10.9 million). Almost half of those 12 million cases were recorded in just four countries: Russia (1,733,440), France (1,601,367), Spain (1,306,316) and the United Kingdom (1,123 197).
