The head of the electoral headquarters of the presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya Maria Moroz was released after being detained. On Thursday, August 6, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Moroz, she was taken to the department for combating organized crime and extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.

“They just warned that there should be no riots. They warned about responsibility, ”she clarified.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus told the agency that Moroz was not detained.

On August 4, the current President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, called Tikhanovskaya and her associates Veronica Tsepkalo and Maria Kolesnikova “unfortunate girls.”

In addition, the Belarusian leader urged his opponents “not to get underfoot” and let him save the state. He noted that the country’s authorities would accept any decision of the people in the upcoming presidential elections, but asked not to betray, as this “is not forgiven even in heaven”.

On the same day, the officers’ meetings of the Armed Forces of Belarus announced their full support for the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko.

The elections will be held on August 9. The Central Election Commission registered five people as candidates – Andrey Dmitriev, Anna Kanopatskaya, Alexander Lukashenko, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Sergei Cherechenya. Two applicants, Viktor Babariko and Valery Tsepkalo, were refused registration.

If he wins, this will be the sixth term for Lukashenka.
