Despite the new type of coronavirus pandemic, infrastructure modernization projects, including in the road sector, continue to be implemented in our region. One of these objects was checked today by the head of the region Andrey Bocharov.

The bridge across the Erzovka River, together with all engineering structures, is 271 meters long. It was built in the 90s of the last century, now it no longer meets the regulatory requirements. In addition, over the years of operation, the bridge has acquired serious defects.

In order not to stop traffic, and in summer 19,100 cars pass through the overpass per day, it was decided to carry out the repair in two stages. First, the left side of the structure will be restored, then the right. The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for next year.

“As a result, we will restore the carrying capacity of the bridge to 20 tons,” explained Yuri Sorokin, head of Uprdor Moscow-Volgograd. – We will also bring the approaches to the bridge and pedestrian paths into a standard state.

During the inspection, Andrei Bocharov noted that the P-228 route is an important direction connecting the Urals and Siberia with the South of Russia.

“There is a lot of traffic here, especially during the summer holidays, when people go to the sea through our region,” said the governor. – There are a lot of bridge structures here that need repair.

The head of the region stressed that the work is proceeding according to the schedule. It is also important to pay attention to the safety of already repaired objects – roads and bridges – for this purpose, weight and size control posts are being installed in the Volgograd region, Bocharov explained.

Recall that the development of road infrastructure has been a priority in the work of regional authorities since 2014. Over the years, 136 accident centers have been identified and eliminated; renovated, repaired and built more than 2.1 thousand km of highways, including more than 20 bridges. The region has not seen such a volume of work since Soviet times.

The Volgograd Region will also take part in the additional federal project “Bridges and Overpasses” of the national project “Safe and High-Quality Highways”. This will enable the region to build and repair 37 artificial road structures from 2021 to 2024.

Recall that in June this year, the Volgograd Region was visited by the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Evgeny Dietrich, and aide to the President of the Russian Federation, Igor Levitin. They highly appreciated the results of modernization of the region’s road transport infrastructure and, together with Governor Andrei Bocharov, considered new promising projects.
