Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the military confrontation is contrary to the interests of both China and the United States. He spoke about this in an interview with the CBS TV channel.
The head of American diplomacy noted that China is a country that has the military, economic and diplomatic potential to “challenge the order”, which the United States actively supports and defends. Blinken assured that the US goal is “not to contain China”, but “to maintain the established order”, which the PRC wants to challenge.
According to the secretary of state, in the past few years, China has become more repressive at home, and its foreign policy has become more aggressive. He also pointed to the topic of human rights violations by China. As Blinken specified, the United States regards the actions of the Chinese authorities in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC as a “genocide” of the Uyghurs.
