The United States and Japan will work together to confront the challenges posed by China and the DPRK in the Indo-Pacific region, US leader Joe Biden said at a press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

“We are committed to working together to meet the challenges posed by China and challenges such as the South China Sea and North Korea to ensure the future of a free and open Indo-Pacific region,” he stressed.

Biden said Japan and the United States are strong democracies in the region committed to protecting shared values, including the rule of law and human rights.

“We will work together to prove that democracies can still compete and win in the 21st century,” the American president added.
