In 2020, 20 republican mass sports events and 98 training camps were held on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Domestic athletes were sent to 61 international competitions, where athletes won 109 medals: 27 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze.
The most significant international sporting events:
– Asian Boxing Championship, from February 29 to March 13, 2020 in Amman (Jordan);
– Asian Championship in types of wrestling, from 16 to 24 February 2020 in New Delhi (India), domestic athletes won 5 medals in Greco-Roman wrestling (2 silver, 3 bronze), 4 medals were won in freestyle wrestling (2 gold , 2 bronzes), 2 medals were won in women’s wrestling (1 silver, 1 bronze);
– World Cup by types of wrestling, from 12 to 18 December 2020 in Belgrade (Serbia), domestic athletes won 3 medals in Greco-Roman wrestling (1 gold, 2 bronzes), 2 bronze won in freestyle wrestling, and in women’s wrestling won 3 medals (2 gold, 1 bronze);
– World SAMBO Championships, November 3-9, 2020 in Novi Sad (Serbia), where our athletes won 2 medals in sambo, of which one silver and one bronze, in combat sambo 4 medals were won, of which 1 was silver and 3 bronze.
– World Belt Wrestling Championship, December 11-13, 2020 in Kazan (Russian Federation), athletes of Kyrgyzstan won 17 medals, of which 2 are silver and 15 bronze.
– World Cup A. Kharlampiev memorial in sambo, December 17-20, 2020 in Moscow (Russian Federation), where our athletes won 12 medals, of which 5 bronze medals in sambo and 7 medals in combat sambo (3 silver and 4 bronze).
In addition, in 2020, 159 mass sports events were held in the regions of the republic, with the participation of 14,895 people:
In the Chui region – 8 sports events with the participation of 1050 people;
In Batken region – 20 sports events, where 4105 participants took part;
In Jalal-Abad region – 6 sports events with the participation of 692 participants
In the Osh region – 2 sports events with the participation of 142 athletes;
In Issyk-Kul region – 80 sports events with the participation of 6093 people
In the Talas region – 35 sports events with the participation of 2140 participants;
In the Naryn region – 8 sports events with the participation of 673 people.
