The last episode in a saga around presidential debates, each more incongruous than the next, took place last night. The two contenders for the US presidency, Donald Trump and his rival Joe Biden, leading in the polls, answered questions from voters live … each on a different television channel. The Republican president was in Florida on NBC, while his Democratic opponent’s remarks were broadcast on ABC from Pennsylvania.

Donald Trump had a lot to gain from yesterday’s debate. In particular, he had to convince women in the suburbs and the elderly. Mission accomplished ? No. However, he delivered a good performance.
