Tremors with a magnitude of 4.6 were recorded 101 km from the village of Ust-Kamchatsk on the eastern coast of the Kamchatka Territory. This was announced on December 14 by the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The earthquake occurred at 16:16 (07:16 Moscow time). The outbreak occurred at a depth of 48 km.
In addition, the Kamchatka avalanche control center announced a storm warning due to the increased danger of avalanches from the slopes of volcanoes and hills.
“In the period from December 15 to 17, 2020, inclusive, in the mountainous areas of Ust-Bolsheretsky, Elizovsky (especially the Paratunka river basin), including the territory of the Kronotsky reserve, Milkovsky and Ust-Kamchatsky districts, the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, as well as volcanoes Vilyuchinsky, Kozelsky, Koryaksky and Avachinsky are avalanche-hazardous, “RIA Novosti reports the center.
Earlier that day, six earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 3.6 occurred near the Kuril Islands. Seismologists recorded them in the Pacific Ocean near the Lesser Kuril ridge.
There were no calls from local residents regarding the sensibility of tremors. The tsunami threat was also not declared. There is no information about casualties and injuries.
