In 2021, the United States will launch their analogue of the Eurovision Song Contest called American Song Contest. This was announced on 7 August in Geneva by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
In the American version, representatives of 50 states will compete for victory. Solo performers, duets and groups of up to six people will be able to take part.
The competition will consist of qualifying rounds, semi-finals and a grand final.
According to the EBU, an academy dedicated to the competition will be established prior to the American Song Contest. Members of this academy will select a jury from among artists and cultural figures, writes Gazeta.ru.
On August 2, it became known that the Russian group Little Big broke the record of the Eurovision music contest in terms of video clip views on the YouTube channel.
The video for the song Uno, with which the group was supposed to represent Russia this year, has gained more than 138 million views.
