Turkish F-16 fighters arrived in Azerbaijan before the start of the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh to participate in the exercises, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with CNN. He stressed that the Turkish aviation does not take part in the battles in Karabakh.
Aliyev stressed that in 2019, Turkey and Azerbaijan held 10 military exercises. In 2020, due to the pandemic, only two exercises took place, and one of them was just before the start of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.
However, Aliyev did not explain why the Turkish aviation remained in Azerbaijan after the completion of the exercises, as indicated by satellite images.
Let us remind that earlier Azerbaijan denied the allegations of the Armenian side about the use of cluster shells in the conflict during the shelling of Stepanakert.
