Young Volgograd residents took part in an online conference held by the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The main topic of the videoconference, which took place today, November 19, was the provision of housing for orphans.

During the meeting, it was noted that the implementation of the rights to housing is one of the key issues of state policy in the field of child protection. This task is given special attention not only in the implementation of the National Strategy of Action for Children, but also in the framework of the Decade of Childhood (2018-2027), announced by the decree of the head of state.

This year, the volume of financing was reduced in 18 Russian regions, including the Volgograd region (-68.7%), the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reports. However, as MK in Volgograd previously reported, the region continues to carry out planned work in this direction. Until the end of 2020, it is planned to provide housing for another 350 orphans.

According to the RF IC, during the meeting, representatives of the Volgograd region promised to help a young local resident. A girl from Volgograd told the head of the department that she was expelled from the queue two years ago, arguing that she was provided with housing, which is emergency and not suitable for living. She went to court, which ruled in her favor. However, Volgograd has not yet received housing.

Representatives of local authorities noted the existence of a number of problems and assured Alexander Bastrykin that the issue would be worked out more thoroughly and each case would be taken under control. The department will continue to supervise the provision of orphans with living quarters.
