An air leak has been detected at the International Space Station (ISS). This is stated in the message of the press service of “Roscosmos” on Tuesday, September 29.

The leak is located in the Zvezda service module, where scientific equipment is located, and will be localized in the near future, the state corporation informs.

Now experts are looking for a specific leak location. The total pressure drop of the ISS atmosphere was fixed at 1 mm in 8 hours. This poses no danger to the crew and does not interfere with the continuation of the flight.

On August 30, 2018, an air leak also occurred on the International Space Station (ISS). A hole about 3 cm long was found in the manned compartment of the docked Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft. Experts are sure that the hole was made with a drill. The versions of damage to the ship both on Earth and in space were considered.

On January 11, it became known that after the incident with a hole in the skin, RSC Energia implemented a video surveillance system for the assembly of Soyuz spacecraft at all stages, and not only in the main areas.

In September 2019, the head of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that he knew where a “hole” appeared in the living compartment of the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft, but he would not disclose this information, since Roskosmos should have “some secret”.
