In Astrakhan, public utilities continue to update road markings. In addition to pedestrian crossings, double solid ones, specialists also drew waffle markings.
Waffle markings are a new markup that was introduced in traffic rules at the end of April 2018. They look like yellow stripes that intersect with each other at right angles and form squares. These markings were introduced in order to remind motorists that if there is a traffic jam at the intersection, then it is not necessary to drive on it.
For the first time in Astrakhan, wafer markings appeared at one of the busiest intersections – Admiralteyskaya, Trediakovsky and Nikolskaya. At rush hour, the intersection “got up” and motorists could not turn to any street. Also, CCTV cameras were installed at the intersection, which monitored the violators.
A new “waffle iron” has recently appeared at the intersection of Boevaya and Mozdokskaya streets. It was painted according to the same principle as once on the Admiralteyskaya. It was decided to apply new markings on the Battlefield due to the closure of the Police Bridge. After the interruption of the crossing, the entire traffic was redirected through this road artery, and therefore, at this intersection there were constant congestions.
Now the situation at the intersection of Boevaya and Mozdokskaya streets will be regulated not only by traffic lights and traffic signs, but also by a new type of marking. Also, at this intersection, photo and video recording complexes have been installed that will control the operation of the intersection.
“The intersection of Boevaya and Mozdokskaya streets is a full-fledged intersection, which means that Rostelecom’s photo and video recording complexes monitor the situation on the road according to such parameters as violation of the speed limit, traffic in the lanes, admission of pedestrians, crossing the intersection at a prohibited traffic light and, now , exit to the crossroads when there is a traffic jam, ”said Sergei Ovsyannikov, director of the Astrakhan branch of PJSC Rostelecom.
It should be reminded that Rostelecom maintains photo and video recording systems on the roads of the Astrakhan region, which help to save the lives of Astrakhan residents and extend the service life of the roadbed.
