As a result of the eruption of the Klyuchevskoy Kamchatka volcano, the village of Kozyrevsk in the Ust-Kamchatsky municipal district was covered with ash. This was reported on Tuesday, January 19, on the website of the regional department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

The ash ejection of the volcano occurred on Monday evening, January 18. According to the seismic station, a sharp increase in the amplitude of volcanic tremors was recorded on the northern slope of the volcano. This led to a powerful ash ejection over the volcano.

According to the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the ashfall continued in the village for at least an hour, writes RT. As a result of the incident, there is no threat to the population, the Zvezda TV channel notes. The ashfall does not continue. The townspeople were advised to close doors and windows, and not to go outside unnecessarily.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that international routes of aircraft movement in the specified area and in the area of the volcano do not pass. According to volcanologists, Klyuchevskoy continues to be in the active stage of the eruption, there is no threat to settlements.

Tourist groups near the mountain are not registered, but citizens are warned that when released near the volcano, the concentration of poisonous gases is exceeded, and ash can cause an allergic reaction, the website aif.ru writes.

Klyuchevskoy volcano, whose height is 4800 m, is the highest active volcano in Eurasia, Gazeta.ru notes.

In December, the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka ejected ash to a height of 8 km. The ash plume spread 42 km northeast of the volcano. A slight fall of ash, up to 0.5 mm thick, was recorded in some areas of the village of Ust-Kamchatsk.
