According to the government of Karelia, a modern cinema will open in Pitkyaranta by the end of 2020. It will be equipped in the Pitkyaranta city house of culture at the expense of the Cinema Fund.
The Cinema Foundation will allocate money for a cinema based on the results of the past competition. Pitkyaranta won it as a city with a population of up to 500 thousand people. For the equipment of the cinema hall and equipping with new digital equipment will give almost five million rubles. This money will be transferred free of charge with one condition: there must be at least half of the films shown in domestic production.
Within the framework of the centenary of Karelia, 14 cinemas have been opened in the regions of the republic and Petrozavodsk on the basis of cultural institutions. The cinema in Pitkäranta will be the fifteenth.
