A man helping terrorists was arrested in St. Petersburg

The Investigation Department for the Frunzensky District of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in St. Petersburg arrested a man accused of assisting participants in terrorist organizations. This was reported on Thursday, August 6, on the website of the TFR management in the city.

He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5 of Art. 33 h. 2 tbsp. 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Assistance in participation in terrorist activities”).

According to the version of the investigation, the accused born in 1993 from August 2018 to March 2019 in an apartment at home on Dimitrov Street helped the participants in the hostilities in Syria. It provided them with the technical ability to activate Internet messengers, which were used by members of banned international terrorist organizations.

Earlier, on July 21, a Russian was arrested in Kaliningrad, who was transferring money to citizens financing a terrorist organization. The investigation established that the attacker had repeatedly transferred money to bank cards to people who were involved in financing the international terrorist organization Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia).

The Kaliningrad District Court has taken the accused into custody. The regional FSB department is establishing the circumstances of the incident.
