Relations between Russia and the United States are unlikely to improve dramatically in the coming months. This was announced on February 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“I think there will be no dramatic improvement. Talking about such an improvement is not abrupt, but gradual: I’m not sure that in the coming months we will see this, ”she said on the air of the YouTube channel Antonyms.
Earlier, on February 12, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that under the current US President Joe Biden, Moscow and Washington are unlikely to find agreement on most current problems, but it is necessary to continue the dialogue.
On February 11, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the United States does not stop cynical attempts to interfere in Russia’s internal affairs. Moscow, according to the diplomat, has no illusions about future relations with the United States under Biden’s presidency.
In late January, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden held their first telephone conversation, during which they discussed, in particular, the extension of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. After that, the Russian leader submitted to the State Duma a bill on the ratification of the document.
