On Thursday, January 21, the REN TV channel published a video recording the moment of the arrest of lawyer Lyubov Sobol in Moscow.

Sobol was detained earlier that day for calls to go to unauthorized rallies; an administrative protocol was drawn up for repeated violation of the procedure for holding a mass rally. The sanction under this article provides for a fine of 150 to 300 thousand rubles or administrative arrest for up to 30 days.

According to the lawyer of the detainee, Vladimir Voronin, a meeting on this issue will take place on Friday in the Simonovsky court, writes TASS. Currently, Sobol has left the police station.

On January 20, there was a massive spread of calls to participate in rallies on social networks. Moreover, the addressees of distribution were minors with an emphasis on children aged 12-14 years. In response, the network launched the hashtag #ChildrenOnPolitics to ensure the safety of minors.

For participation in unauthorized actions, a fine is from 10 to 20 thousand rubles, or compulsory work for a period of 100 hours, or arrest for up to 15 days. At the same time, parents will have to answer for the actions of minors under Art. 5.35 h. 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation for failure to fulfill responsibilities for the maintenance and upbringing of children.

In turn, Roskomnadzor demanded that the social network TikTok remove and stop distributing videos that urge minors to participate in illegal protests. Also, the department sent the leadership of the social network “VKontakte” demands to suppress the involvement of minors to participate in unauthorized rallies.

In addition, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation demanded to restrict access to sites where calls to participate in illegal actions on January 23 are published.
