The EpiVacCorona coronavirus vaccine did not adversely affect the offspring of vaccinated rats. This was reported on Tuesday, December 29, in the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
“The studies were carried out on sexually mature male and female rats, as well as on pregnant females. It was shown that vaccination of animals in doses equal to one vaccination for humans, and 10 times higher than it, did not lead to a decrease in fertility rates, did not affect the duration of subsequent pregnancy, indicators of pre- and post-implantation mortality, the number of offspring at birth “, – the report says.
The vaccine also did not affect the survival of the offspring and did not cause them to develop impairments to physical development.
On the basis of the data obtained, the experts concluded that the EpiVacCorona vaccine does not have embryotoxic properties and does not affect the generative function.
Last week, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that over 14,000 doses of EpiVacCorona vaccine will be delivered to Russian regions by the end of the year.
Rospotrebnadzor on December 18 reported that cellular immunity to coronavirus appears in 5-6 weeks in most of the volunteers who are testing the EpiVacCorona vaccine.
EpiVacCorona is the second drug for coronavirus, developed by domestic specialists of the Vector Center. It was registered on October 14th.
