The inflation rate in Germany in October, compared to the same month last year, amounted to minus 0.2 percent, reported the Federal Statistical Office. Also, statisticians said that the consumer price index in the country fell once again. However, if we compare this indicator with September, their growth is noted by 0.1 percent. Prior to this, the decline in consumer prices in Germany by 0.1% in annual terms against inflation of 0.9% in June, was noted in July. What became cheaper, what went up?

According to the information, in particular, energy prices continue to decline: in October they fell by 6.8 percent compared to the previous year. The cost of food, on the other hand, rose 1.4 percent. Alcohol and tobacco products became more expensive by an average of 2.4 percent. The cost of various services, including renting apartments, increased by 1.0%.

A positive factor that led to a reduction in the cost of some goods and services was the reduction in VAT introduced by the federal government in July this year, the statistical office reports.

Inflation refers to the process of increasing the general level of prices for goods and services. The most common method of measuring inflation is to calculate it based on the consumer price index for goods and services.
