Elections to the Jogorku Kenesh are being held in Kyrgyzstan. Observers report a peaceful start to the elections, with minor irregularities.
The polling stations opened at 8:00 and will work until 20:00.
As the head of the CEC of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurzhan Shildabekova said, all polling stations opened on time. Sanitary standards are observed everywhere, including mask mode and social distance.
3,523,554 citizens are included in the general voter list. As of 10:00, 236,921 voters, 6.72%, had voted at polling stations in the Kyrgyz Republic and abroad.
President of the country Sooronbai Jeenbekov has already taken part in the voting.
The head of state fulfilled his civic duty at the polling station No. 1327 in Bishkek, located at the National School-Lyceum of Innovative Technologies No. 5 named after A. Moldokulova.
“We did our best to make the elections fair and transparent. All parties were given equal opportunities. The new parties had the opportunity to participate in the elections on an equal footing, ”the president stressed in his press statement following the completion of the voting process.
He especially noted that there were no restrictions on the PR of political programs, party debates were widely broadcast on TV channels, and the election campaign was held in conditions of strong political competition.
The head of state once again made an appeal to the Kyrgyz people, noting that today the fate of the country is being decided not only for the next 5 years.
“Therefore, each of us must come to the polling station and make our political choice. We will be in the center of attention of the international community today. I am confident that we will show high civic engagement and political culture. For all of us, the interests of the country are above all, ”concluded Jeenbekov.
On the day of voting, 2,475 polling stations will work for citizens of Kyrgyzstan. Including 45 outside the republic. Over 270 observers from 43 countries and 33 international organizations will follow the voting.
