20% of the envisaged bed capacity for those infected with coronavirus is free in the region today, but the regional health department plans to increase the number of beds.

Nikolai Alimov, deputy chairman of the regional health committee, said at a briefing on the epidemiological situation in the Volgograd region that there is no shortage of beds in hospitals in the region.

– The situation with COVID in the Volgograd region is characterized as stable, – said Alimov, – but it is tense, so we are ready and intend to increase the bed capacity.

Alimov also noted that one of the two buildings of the second psychiatric hospital in the Soviet district is already being prepared for these purposes. It is possible that places will be provided for coronavirus patients in the city hospital No. 12 in the Krasnooktyabrsky district and other medical institutions.
