- Another start to the Girondins de Bordeaux is that of Antony Thiodet. The club’s Mr. Box Office was at the center of the war between management and the Ultramarines.
- To succeed Eduardo Macia as sporting director, the club contacted Alain Roche and Olivier Pickeu but not John Williams.
- No Girondins player tested positive for Covid-19 during the second wave of tests a month after resuming training.
Where will the bleeding stop? Every day his resignation or his dismissal at the Girondins de Bordeaux for a week. After Souleymane Cissé (technical manager of the training center), Nicolas Calo (communication director) and above all Eduardo Macia (football director), it is Antony Thiodet’s turn to take the door, revealed this Tuesday
The Team. Information confirmed by 20 minutes.
The club and its director of “stadium and network commercial strategy” have reached an amicable agreement to separate. Antony Thiodet leaves the club a year and a half after his arrival and after months of controversy around himself. Since the history of ticketing in particular, the Ultramarines (the largest group of Bordeaux supporters) demanded his departure like that of Frédéric Longuépée, the CEO of the Girondins. His position had even become untenable with the revelation of the “Girondins Leaks” and his remarks on partial unemployment during which employees would have worked.
In an internal press release, the club says that thanks to him and his teams, Matmut Atlantique saw a 19% increase in paid attendance last season.

Roche and Pickeu contacted, not Williams
After his passage in front of the DNCG in mid-July, the management of the Girondins de Bordeaux, still led to this day by Frédéric Longuépée, is therefore continuing its big summer cleaning. The only one who still holds is Paulo Sousa, the coach of the Navy and White. But for how long ? After his real-false start, the Portuguese is increasingly weakened, especially with the ousting of Eduardo Macia, who supported him and refused to sell certain players despite the wishes of King Street. Paulo Sousa had a bad experience of this decision on the part of the club but for the moment he is still there and will lead training this Tuesday afternoon at the Château du Haillan.

In any case, he will soon have to deal with a new sports director. For the moment, it is Ulrich Ramé who is acting. Several names are circulating to take over from Eduardo Macia including those of Alain Roche and Olivier Pickeu with whom contacts have been established. The latter should finally take the direction of Caen in the coming hours. On the other hand, there is no contact between the club and John Williams, the current sports director of Amiens based in the Bordeaux region, according to information from 20 minutes.
No positive player in the second wave of testing
In the middle of all this, the players continue the summer preparation after an encouraging first friendly match against Angers last Saturday (1-1). Several of them expressed their disappointment to see Eduardo Macia leave with whom they had a very good relationship.
There is still good news for them, it is medical: no Girondins player tested positive for Covid-19 during the second wave of tests carried out last Thursday, one month after the resumption according to our information. Only Samuel Kalu tested positive on his return from Africa is still in his fortnight. He could return to the group in the coming days.
