Trainer Elena Demina on Sunday, April 25, spoke about the rescue of children who were poisoned with chlorine during classes in the pool of Nizhny Lomov near Penza.
According to the woman, she smelled a strong smell of chlorine about half an hour after the start of the workout, leaving for a short while in the corridor. The smell also emanated from the water treatment room, where the chlorine was.
“I quickly ran to the pool, there are literally two steps, and raised a panic, I asked all the kids to retire to the locker rooms. There, already at a pace, they began to dress them. Some of the children were already dressed on the street, ”REN TV quotes her.
The coach noted that initially she did not think that everything was so serious. However, she later noticed that some of the children were in critical condition and called an ambulance.
Demina stressed that some of the pupils began to cough even in the pool, and once they were outside, they could no longer breathe.
“We just choked. Some even climbed onto the side and started coughing. Then, when they had already taken them out into the street, some could not even breathe, as it hurt to breathe. Someone was vomiting. All the symptoms of chlorine poisoning were there, ”she said.
At the same time, the coach himself also needed the help of doctors. Demina suffered from chlorine, but not to the same extent as her pupils. The parents of the rescued children expressed their gratitude to the trainer for prompt action in an emergency.
The fact that in the basin of Nizhny Lomov during swimming lessons, 21 children born in 2004-2013 were poisoned with chlorine, it was reported the day before. 20 children were hospitalized.
On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers, resulting in the infliction of serious harm to health by negligence.”
