BUDAPEST | 20,000 stones have been lined up in the Hungarian capital in memory of the victims of the coronavirus, while this central European country is currently experiencing record mortality.

“More than 20,000 of our compatriots have been swept away by the epidemic and it is a personal, family, but also national tragedy,” the opposition party behind the initiative wrote on its Facebook account on Friday. .

The pebbles, linked together by a thin strip of fabric in the colors of Hungary, were deposited on Margaret Island, in the heart of Budapest, by the New World People’s Party, a new political formation.
