147 candidates entered the elections of the highest officials of the regions and 73 of them were registered. This was announced on Friday, August 7, by the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova.

“To participate in the elections of heads of regions, we have nominated 147 candidates, at the moment 73 candidates have been registered, 37 candidates have been refused registration, 10 candidates have lost their status for their own reasons, documents for 27 candidates are under consideration by election commissions, decisions should not be made later on August 9, “RIA Novosti quoted Pamfilova as saying.

She appealed to the regional election commissions with a request to kindly and responsibly approach the interaction with the candidates, so that no misunderstandings arise.

According to Pamfilova, the upcoming elections will be competitive, since on average five candidates are running for the post.

“For example, in the Kaluga region six candidates were nominated for the post of governor, all of them were registered – this is a good example. Five candidates have been nominated for the post of President of the Republic of Tatarstan, all five have been registered, that is, no one has created any barriers, which we welcome, ”the CEC chairman concluded.

This year, elections of governors are planned in 20 regions and in 11 subjects, citizens are to elect deputies of legislative bodies.

In July, Pamfilova assured that video surveillance at the elections in September is planned in almost all regions where voting will take place. In addition, according to the latest legislative changes, it will be possible to vote within three days from 11 to 13 September. The main day will be the 13th day of the month – the single voting day, writes Gazeta.ru.
